We're halfway through 2023. If you haven't clarified your goals for the back half of the year, here are journal prompts to help you get clear on what you want to create.
We're half of the way through 2023.
Have you clarified your goals for the back half of the year?
If so, great!
If not, here are some useful journal prompts that can help you clarify what you want to create:
What are three things I want to have/experience/accomplish by December 31, 2023?
Why do I want these? Why are they important?
What would have to be true to achieve them?
What obstacles are in the way of my achieving them?
Who can I hire or empower to help me remove these obstacles?
Who do I have to become to achieve these goals?
Happy journaling!

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the halfway point of the year matter for revisiting goals?
Because it's a natural checkpoint to pause and assess direction before the second half plays out. Clarifying goals now shapes how the remaining months actually get used, rather than drifting through them.
What's the purpose of asking "what would have to be true to achieve them"?
It shifts thinking from wishing for an outcome to identifying the specific conditions or actions required to actually make it happen, turning a vague goal into something more concrete and actionable.
Why include a prompt about obstacles in the way of the goals?
Because naming obstacles directly makes them addressable. Vague awareness of a challenge is much harder to act on than a clearly identified specific obstacle standing in the way.
Why ask who could be hired or empowered to help remove those obstacles?
Because not every obstacle needs to be solved alone. This prompt opens up the possibility that support, whether hiring, delegating, or empowering someone else, might be part of the actual solution.
Why does the exercise end with "who do I have to become to achieve these goals"?
Because achieving meaningful goals often requires personal growth or change, not just external action. This prompt reframes the goal from a checklist item into something tied to genuine development.
